This summer my roommates and I frequently attended the fair in our local metropolis.
We went primarily for the the food.
Yep.......the food. Good Eats.
We walked around and saw the livestock and the rides. The most interesting part was going into the petting setion of the animal pens. There were an assortment of forgein animals like a yak, and some Eastern Asian Cow thingy. I can't remember what it was called, but he was a big fella. The dairy cows were very friendly. One decided to clean my arm of all salt and skin. I've never had a cow do that before.
I thought it was funny.
We also checked out the draft horses. Wow! They are bigger in person then on the Budwieser commercials. Beautiful creatures though. So gracefull and magestic as they pulled the wagons and buggies aroud the arena.
The other exciting thing was the giantic turkey leg that I bought for dinner that evening. It was barbecue in a large smoker. I couldn't finish the whole thing, but it was really good. It was nice to walk around and see the vendors booths and the homemade crafts.
Later that evening we went to a performance by the "Temptations" at the arena on the fairgrounds. It was a lot of fun. The music was good, the performers were fun to watch and so were the drunks. You would think that they would realize how rediculous they look when they get out of control.
After that we head home.
