Funny Things at School - part 1

So occasionally I will post something amusing that happened at the school where I teach. Yep I teach 7 year old or 2nd graders. Scarey thought.

On Friday some of my students started to practice their reading speed on individual stories. Part of this practice involves listening to the story on their own small tape player and headphones. I explained how to use the player and the student retrieved thier tapes.

One little girl pushed the play button. No sound came out the headphones. She pushed it again and got the same result. With a determined grimis on her face she pushed it down one more time and held it in place. Still no sound.

Pretty soon she said "Ms. Gurney, I can't hear my story." and she handed me the tape player.

As soon as it was in my hand I knew what was wrong..........I said, "Sweetheart, you have to plug the headphones in the player."

She smiled and I tried to stiffle a little giggle.
