So I was told that I needed to pick my squash from my garden after the 1st frost. Well when what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a thing line of frost on my car and side mirror(s). I rushed to the garden as quick as a flash and ripped up those veggies and came inside fast.
Nice little poetry blurp huh?! I made that up off the top of my head.
They are a little green so I will let them ripen in the garage with all those things that go bumb (see previous postings) I gave about 5 to Mom and gave away about 6 at school. I still have about 7 or 8 in the garage. They might be the smallest ones, but that's still quite a bit.
I am so proud of my little garden this year.
I am just starting to get over a cold that flat lined me earlier this week. I was in the front of the classroom teaching reading like any good ole gal and BAM! (I sound like Emril) The thunderous clap of a sneeze blew in the sinus pressure and pain that always attends a severe cold. I was out of it. The students were really sweet and brought me tissues and checked up several times during the day to see if I was feeling ok.
I doped up on Sudefed the next day and slept a lot. I was feeling much better today. Hail the triumphant hero. I had to stay late a school tonight to get ahead of the work load.
It is funny, but teachers have "Day work", "Teaching Work" and "Homework" to do as part of the job requirement. It gets way piled up when you aren't feeling well. We can't just call in sick when something comes up. It takes almost a day to sufficiently get ready for a substitute and then another day to recover from one. Most of the time it isn't worth it, so you come in not feeling quite up to par.
Oh well, I feel better now.
